Ratiocination

See it, desire it, credit to buy it,
Basics to take it home and then try it,
The fact it's on sale, the sum one can save…
All parts of what materialists crave.

Pathos to bathos, a segue in mood,
Sentimentality, socially lewd
To the hurting; with the hungry to feed,
Philanthropy's a more respected creed.

Acting on impulse, no planning ahead,
One feels the pleasure of the urge, instead
Of addressing per se the larger deed,
Matching resources in light of the need.

Teacup to ocean, a ratio absurd,
More is accomplished if voices are heard
Raising the alarm, when fire is at hand,
Lesson in deeds, the caring understand.
