Where are Our Heroes Fair?
Mingled in the mythic lore antiquity retains
The pageantry of heroes in melodic refrains,
High hopes for the champions, white horses astride,
Distant world travelers, home full of pride.
Some won their battles, some tamed the sea,
Some slew dread dragons, some saved us free,
Some scaled tall mountains, some braved the deep,
All risked precious life, their honor to keep.
What will time think of those living here today?
Who are our valiant ones; what price dare they pay?
Is there an upward call unawakened in some?
Kind Destiny, our heroes fair, when will they come?
