Risorgimento

Its first rays adorning the mountains of morning,
The sunrise announces a new day.
The shadows of night releasing with breaking light
Man's spirits, while darkness slinks away.

Foggy wisps rising high to vanish in a sky
So azure as to stun loving eyes;
Morning globules of dew beg bare feet to walk through
A silent, clean boot-wash of surprise.

That first draft of sweet air dares the mind to compare
Experience's pleasant recall;
To rejoice in new birth, sense the cycles of earth,
Breathe deeply and Nature will enthrall.

The passionate of heart have known from the start,
Rebirthing, they require like the day;
To rehearse, and replenish will not diminish
The bouquets, lovers send on their way.
