Merry Andrew

Wisdom says loving more
Will never be a bore,
For it smites the conflict to the core;
Bringing one to wonder,
Why friendly Fates thunder
And blow the best-laid plans asunder?

When despair's in the air,
Bold heroes don't go there,
Yet, the fool rushes in to the dare;
Though once burned by the fire,
Note his need to require
That Prudence surrender to desire.

Au contraire, mon grandpere,
Justice tries to be fair
To the sage or the fool, everywhere;
It just seems otherwise,
When your turn in the vise,
To receive His trimming down to size.
